it's gone...

We had a month or two of beautiful white snow!  I wake up yesterday & it was like it never happened! It melted soooo fast! Except for the mud, puddles & unsightly dead grass..you would never know it was the 3 snowiest December on record here!! :D

I am trying to get myself motivated to fix a pot of chili & eventually reside to my sewing studio for some afternoon creativity!  My New Years eve will be spent happily with my mister & a sweet pooch! I am excited to be ringing in another year here at home!!  I am such a BORE and i am completely ok with it! :D

coming to an end & loves

Christmas is over & in a few days we will be ringing in a new year. Eeep! We had a lovely Christmas..a very white one!! :) I love the thought of a brand new year just waiting to be lived & discovered to it's fullest!  Like many of you i have lots of goals & dreams for 2011! I am kinda happy to close the door on 2010...love all the memories we made & feel blessed...but i just feel like it wasnt "our" year per say!? I have so many things that i want to accomplish this year...sooo very many! I want to TAKE back control of my life!!  I know that sounds super cheesy in like an "Oprah" kind of way, but I want to be the "guide" in my life!  I don't mean that in an "i'm my own boss kind of way" I just want to be in charge of myself personally & fulfill what i know my potential is as a wife, friend, business owner..etc! I feel that i wasted soooo much of myself in 2010 on what?... i have no idea! I just don't want to look back at this time next year & say i wish i had....!  Ok moving on! ;)

holiday this & that

Here are a few pictures of the frozen fog and snow we had a few days ago. I just thought it looked so pretty on our trees!!



Our sweet dog saying..ok i am done playing outside now and i am ready to come in! I would have never guessed how much she was going to LOVE the snow!! She is so fun to watch running around and nose diving into it! She loves it!



This is one of my favorite thrifted treasures! I not only got it for only $1.50 (i know, right) but my husbands grandma has one and i have loved it and envyed it for the last like 12 years!  So when i saw this one at a thrift store for a buck fifty....i was so stoked!!

a few projects

I have been trying really hard to get some projects done and marked off my list (that will be my next post) but as we all know life sometimes has other plans for us!  I don't want to get into all of it & bore you with the craziness that has become my life the last 2 months. Just know that for me, reading your blogs, my sewing and of course my family & friends are what has kept me going and with a pretty positive outlook i must say! ;) I have however between it all have managed to start working on a few Christmas gifts as well as a few items for my etsy shop! Yay!  Before i get to the projects, i guess i should explain what the beautiful Bernina in the photo is doing in my sewing studio!  I am in NO way one that isnt content with what i have or a braggy kind of person, i actually get nervous when i have exciting news or get a new item that i want to share with friends and often decide against sharng in fear of sounding showy or braggy...silly but it's just who i am! Ok, back to the story!  My Husband had met an older couple through work (sold a fence job to them) and as they were talking my husband (so adorably i imagine) noticed a really neat quilt hanging and explained that his wife quilted and so on..and so on! So she, like a quilter just had to show him her basement sewing studio! :) So being that adorable guy he kindly obliged and went down with them. She showed him all of her sewing machines and the last one she showed him was one that she "just didnt use anymore" because she had upgraded!  She said i have been wanting to sell this one but have been waiting for the right home! :)  My adorable husband explained how i have a few machines and that i mostly use my featherweight...and that for certain projects i could really use one that had the decorative stithces etc....So he told her that he was interested and to give him a day or so to figure out the $ situation.  To my surprise he went back and bought it for me!! I am very blessed and was so shocked!  Ok now back to the projects! lol The log cabin block is a pot holder that i made for a xmas gift.  Who will it go to? Thats a secret!!
This quilt is one that i did called Tomato patch.  I quilted loopy stars on it and it looks a hundred times better in person!  I am still deciding if its going to find a home at xmas time or stay put!??

These little cuties were meant for my etsy shop but i am unsure if they will make it cause so many people love them! I have many more in different fabrics but you don't want to see them all do you?! I love the deer fabric sooo much! I bought a lot of it for different projects!

This is a very fun pot holder that a certain someone will be getting for xmas! Shhh...

this and that

I promised you a Saturday night update, and well i failed you!! :( We started watching Avatar and wow it's a long movie!! I do however have a few pictures to share Yay! I started some of my christmas embroidery while watching the movie, still lots more to do but cute none the less!!Here is a flannel quilt i took off the frame, it's quilted in loopy stars and the top is just big and scrappy!...and the top!And here is one of the many vintage quilt pincushions that i made for here! You sooo need one for you and all your sewing friends!! :) This is a cute halloween stitchery that i did weeks ago and i just love it! Many more of these little guys to get done for Next year!! Plans....plans!!

sewing night + a treasure

I have been busy trying (keyword) to get lots of project ideas from being in my head/on paper to being startedprojects! So far so good! I just finished up a huge selection of pincushions made from vintage quilts and a huge selection of dish soap aprons.

Both of which will be or already are for sale in my etsy shop!! I have so many things i want to get made up for the christmas season, after all there are only 63 more days.....unbelieveable! I am also working on getting a better blogging schedule. :) I hope to add some tutorials! What would you like to see on here? More crafty ideas? More how to's? More foody posts? Project tutorials? I will be back later with a saturday night update!! Hope your night is beautiful and peaceful!! I have really been enjoying sitting in front of the woodstove in the evenings and sewing!!

9 years & fall fun

We spent saturday at a local place called Exploration Acres. It's a pumpkin patch, corn maze and fall fun place for all!! We celebrated our 9 year anniversay on Wednesday so besides going out for dinner we wanted to spend it in a maze of corn!! We had some of my siblings and their children join us!! Wow lots of fun was had by all!! Just see for yourself..

We all of course had hot cider, lemon shake up's, and kettle corn! Have you visited your favorite fall spot yet? Picked your pumpkins out? I hope everyone is enjoying the start of fall! I know i really am! More on the quilting front later on today...stay tuned!

I am still lying in bed under what seems like mounds of blankets. It feels like fall here for sure!!! I am laying here trying to plan my day & well i am just too cozy to get out of bed!! I am however really wishing i had a hot mug of coffee or cider in here with me! ha! Did you wake up cool and cozy this morning?

I am beyond happy about this new season. I get so super giddy & inspired when the weather starts turning cool! I guess because it means lots of beautiful changes are to come. The farmers are in the fields, the yard is turning a shade of brown, the trees are trying to change colors, so many festivals, corn maze & pumpkin patch trips, and the dinner menu has changed slightly too,(soups!) Not to mention my LOVE of a fall wardrobe! Aahhh...and the chill in the air! EEK! I could go on and on!!

I just had my first mug of spiced apple cider and it was way more magical than i remember it to be last year! Yum!! Do you like cider? What do you love about the "beginning" of fall? What is the weather like where you live?

I have set a goal for myself to blog more often (hoping everyday?) but we'll see! I have so much random stuff i want to share!! xox

quilt camp 2010

Last weekend was our annual quilt camp for our guild. We started counting down right after the last years, thats how much fun it is!! I am so SUPER lucky that i get to go and visit with so many amazing woman & some really special close friends!! :) What did i work on you ask? I took PLENTY of projects but only got these finished.....
